DO NOT PUT SNOW ON THE ROADS !!
Northern Township residents are reminded that pushing or placing snow in any fashion onto a public street or highway is illegal and punishable as a misdemeanor under Minnesota Statute 160.2715 which prohibits depositing snow or ice onto any public roadway.
The act of placing snow onto/across a public roadway can subject a person to a civil liability if a road hazard…such as a slippery area, frozen rut or bump…occurs and causes a traffic accident or damages road maintenance equipment. This civil liability can extend to both the property owner and the person who actually placed the snow onto/across the roadway.
This notice is being sent to you asking that you PLEASE place snow in a suitable location upon the boundaries of the property it is being cleared. Failure to comply with this request might result in the Township taking legal measures by removing the obstructions and billing the property owner for the expense.
