On Dec. 29, 2022, Northern Township was awarded a $5 million federal grant to fund the first phase of the proposed wastewater project along the northwest side of Lake Bemidji.
This was awarded through the 2022 Congressional Directed Spending program. The project was carried forward and supported by Senator Klobuchar, Senator Tina Smith, and Representative Pete Stauber.
This award is great reason for our region to celebrate as we have secured funding for the entire 1st phase of the planned wastewater project.
The Northern Town Board is currently in negotiations with the City of Bemidji to connect the planned waster water system to the City’s current treatment facility as was offered by the City of the Bemidji in a joint meeting with Northern Township and the City of Bemidji on January 11, 2022.
